This Privacy Policy explains how S.B. Logue (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit www.sblogue.com, subscribe to our newsletter, receive an advance reader copy, buy our books, or contact us.
We are based in British Columbia, Canada, and we handle personal information in line with Canadian privacy law, including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act. Because we welcome readers from around the world, we also follow the privacy laws of other countries where they apply to us.
1. Who We Are
www.sblogue.com is run by S.B. Logue, an independent fantasy and romantasy author.
S.B. Logue is responsible for how this website handles personal information and acts as its privacy contact. You can reach us at sblogue.author@gmail.com with any question, request or concern about your information.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to send you the newsletter, deliver your books and answer your messages.
Newsletter: When you subscribe on our website, we collect your email address, first name and, if you choose to give it, your last name. Our email service also records when and where you signed up, your subscription status, and whether you open or click our emails.
Book purchases: When you buy from our website, we receive your name, email address, billing address and order details, and your shipping address for print books. Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Messages and advance readers: If you write to us through our contact form or by email, or join our advance reader team, we collect the details you give us, such as your name, email address, message and any review links. Advance reader copies are delivered through BookFunnel, which may ask for your email address so it can send you the book.
Website visits: Our website host automatically records basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and the website that referred you. See Cookies and Analytics below for any other tools we use.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- send the newsletter you asked for
- process, deliver and support your book orders
- answer your messages and run our advance reader team
- keep our website working and secure, and prevent fraud or misuse
- understand, in general terms, which books and updates interest our readers
- meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
We do not sell or rent your personal information. If we want to use it for a new purpose, we will ask you first.
4. Newsletter and Consent
We add you to our newsletter only when you agree to join it. Every signup form tells you that you are subscribing.
Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us. We act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we never email you again by mistake.
5. Service Providers and Sharing
We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run this website and our author business, and only what each one needs to do its job. Each provider handles your information under its own privacy policy.

We may also disclose personal information when the law requires it, such as in response to a court order, or to protect the rights, safety or security of our readers, our business or others.
6. Storage Outside Canada
Some of our service providers store or process data in the United States or other countries. When your information is held outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. We choose providers that keep appropriate safeguards in place for personal information.
7. Cookies and Analytics
Our website uses a small number of cookies it needs to work, such as those that keep items in your cart and help protect the site against spam and fraud.
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. Our host, Hostinger, gives us basic visitor statistics, such as the number of visits and the pages viewed, drawn from its own server records.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site, such as checkout, may not work without them.
8. How We Protect Information
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including password-protected accounts and payment providers that encrypt card data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
9. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it:
- Newsletter details: while you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, only your email address stays on our suppression list.
- Order and payment records: six years from the end of the tax year they relate to, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires.
- Messages and advance reader details: for as long as we need them to answer you and run our advance reader team, after which we delete them.
- Website logs: for the limited period our website host keeps them.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
10. Your Privacy Rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and how we use and share it
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- delete your information, apart from records we must keep by law
- stop using your information for the newsletter or any other purpose you agreed to
- depending on where you live, restrict certain uses of your information or give you a copy in a portable format
To make a request, email sblogue.author@gmail.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within 30 days.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we rely on your consent for the newsletter, on our contract with you for orders, on our legal obligations for tax records, and on our legitimate interest in running and securing our website.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia. If you live outside Canada, you can also contact the privacy regulator in your country.
11. Adult Readers
Our books are written for adults, and our website, newsletter and reader programs are intended for readers 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when our website, services or the law changes. We will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and we will let newsletter subscribers know about any significant change.
